Our editorial workflow is built around the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) core practices and the ICMJE recommendations for the conduct, reporting, editing and publication of scholarly work.
Authorship is assessed against the ICMJE's four criteria: substantial contribution, drafting or revision, final approval, and accountability for the work.
Every submission is screened by the handling editor, then sent for double-blind review by at least two independent subject-matter reviewers.
Allegations of plagiarism, data fabrication or duplicate submission are handled per COPE flowcharts, up to correction, expression of concern or retraction.
Manuscripts are run through similarity-detection software before being assigned to reviewers; excessive overlap is returned prior to review.
Authors, reviewers and editors disclose financial and non-financial conflicts; disclosures are recorded against every published article.
